About dwmPhotos

Hi, I'm Dave Miller ... I built this site to share my photos. My hobbie with photography dates back to the 1960s, when I'd take my Argus C3 35mm camera to the drag strip for car photos.

In 1970, I packed my camera bag and hitchhiked from northern California, up the Alcan Highway to Alaska. I fell in love with the Alaska wilderness, especially the Kenai Peninsula, where I staked a waterfront homestead in the Kenai Fjords. I thought it would be a good place to take pictures. I built a cabin, a closet darkroom and rebuilt an old fishing boat. Photography, along with halibut and salmon fishing became an outdoor lifestyle that I continue today. For me, digital technology has put extra fun and personal control into photography. Presently I carry a Nikon D200 and Fuji S7000, not to mention a suitcase of dusty Nikon 35mm gear. My main photo themes are rugged landscapes, seascapes, glacial fjords, marine life, flora, old architecture and fishing boats.

Today, I live with my wife Anne and dog "Keta" in Seward, Alaska. My house is a 5 minute walk from the boat harbor. In summer, I cast off for my homestead in Day Harbor, 27 nautical miles by boat from Seward.
