About dwmPhotos

Hi, I'm Dave Miller ... I created this web site to share my halibut schooner and longliner photos. A few classic halibut schooners still survive on the west coast, but only a handful annually make the traditional spring trip from the Pacific Northwest to Alaska.

I started collecting halibut schooner photographs in 1974, soon after I bought my first fishing boat, an old wooden double-ender, to begin a three decade long halibut fishing career in Alaska. On my early trips to deliver fish in Seward, I began photographing longline vessels whenever I had the opportunity.

Today, I continue to photograph longliners whenever I can. My other favorite photo themes are rugged landscapes, seascapes, glacial fjords, (See: Exploring Alaska's Kenai Fjords Guidebook) marine life, old architecture and anything "fishing boats" from around the world.

I live with my wife Anne and dog "Keta" in Seward, Alaska. My house is a 5 minute walk from the Seward boat harbor. In spring, I cast off for my homestead in Day Harbor, 27 nm by boat from Seward.

Please browse the site. If you like, you can order schooner prints at my Prints and Products page. Thanks for visiting!
